San Clemente was the first leg on the tour for us going north from San Diego.

San Diego is still by far to me the best beach and city to live in the entire world. I am out almost every day walking or doing something on the beach or bay and have grown to love everything about the area, especially all the things to do in Pacific Beach, Mission Beach and La Jolla on any given weekend. For example you can go up to
La Jolla for some good snorkeling, kayaking, awesome places to eat. "PB", or
Pacific Beach has tons of cool
bars, restaurants and awesome
"one of a kind" fashion stores and great beach restaurants and bars.
Mission Beach is home of
Belmont Park,
The Giant Dipper Roller Coaster,
Canes Bar and Grill, and now the new
Wave House ride which features a 10 foot man made surfing wave for people to come in and ride on. ( I just watch:-))
Now I am not throwing in the awesome beach and boardwalk areas and a bunch of other stuff, but the main thing is even as nice a place as this is I was feeling a major need to "change things up" and do something different this weekend.
It was at about 6:30AM in the morning on Saturday that I decided "I am out of here".
I was especially happy to know that I could grab a new convertible rental for $64.00 bucks a day and by 7:00AM I was in the car rental line by the airport planning a trip up the Pacific Coast Highway to check out some of the other beaches in Orange County and Los Angeles.
So there you have it, our last minute no planning vacation.
After getting back with the car and packing up I called my buddy up and said "Hey, I am on my way to your place in a convertible and we are road tripping it to Santa Monika and Venice Beach this weekend, pack your stuff I will be there in 30 minutes....oh and by the way how do I get to your new pad?".
And there you have it, the real behind the scenes reality of our trip and photos up the coast of Southern California.
