This is actually an imported handcrafted family diety for the annual "Day of the Dead" celebration which gives respects to all the family members who have passed.

It is very simular to Halloween and is celebrated within days of the Halloween celebration. During this time Mexican families pay tribute and say prayers for their forefathers and also offer specially made bread as a way of showing respect.
